Crimson_Lancer_Laser_Stream

Full Weapon Name: Crimson-class Stream Laser

Damage: Very Heavy

Speed: Very Fast

Range: Very Long

After-effects: None

Characteristics:

The final iteration of the Stream Laser ends with this Crimson-class Stream Laser. Built to be the ultimate laser artillery, it’s the ultimate weapon for siege warfare.

Like all its predecessors, it requires up to 10 seconds to charge up before it can be fired.

Named after its crimson appearance, the stream can overwhelm most enemy defences and armour. With the appearance of wormholes and the increased aggressiveness from the NSAU government, this weapon will come in handy sooner or later.

The Crimson-class Stream Laser has penetration properties and will pierce through weak targets, destroying them in the process.

Perforator-class Stream Laser

Pink_Laser_Stream

Full Weapon Name: Perforator-class Stream Laser

Damage: Heavy

Speed: Fast

Range: Short

After-effects: None

Characteristics:

A little cousin of the [Disintegrator-class Stream Laser], this is a focused variant which emits a smaller but more powerful stream. Made to be mounted onto the [Outcast Javelin], it serves as a mobile heavy laser unit which allows heavy damage to be dealt from lighter and faster vessels.

The rationale of this weapon is in fact, to replace conventional bombs and torpedoes which can be explode when hit by enemy fire. The secondary advantage is that there’s no longer a need to reload; allowing the [Outcast Javelin] to retain its level of firepower as long as the mission requires.

Purple_Laser_Stream

Full Weapon Name: Disintegrator-class Stream Laser

Damage: Heavy

Speed: Fast

Range: Long

After-effects: None

Characteristics:

The next iteration of stream laser weaponry. A bigger and faster laser stream was produced. Unlike the earlier technologies, the Disintegrator-class Stream Laser can inflict serious amounts of damage on its target.

However, like its immediate predecessor, the weapon still requires a full 6-7 seconds to be charged prior to firing. On top of that, it requires the firing ship to be absolutely still before it can even be fired.

Focusing on the disintegration aspects of the weapon, it’s able to extend its range while increasing its damage output and speed at the same time.

The Disintegrator-class Stream Laser has penetration properties and will pierce through weak targets, destroying them in the process.

Tachyon-class Stream Laser

Blue_Laser_Stream

Full Weapon Name: Tachyon-class Stream Laser

Damage: Medium-Heavy

Speed: Medium

Range: Medium-Long

After-effects: None

Characteristics:

As technology continued to progress within the Outcast camp, it’s inevitable that the Stream Laser technology will continue to be improved.

Since the inception of the [Outcast Laser Frigate] design, scientists have been working towards a new weapon which will counter the powerful [Inferno-class Stream Laser].

However, this new technology isn’t an incremental improvement; although being more powerful, the weapon now requires a full 5-6 seconds to be charged before firing.

Yellow_Stream_Laser

Full Weapon Name: Inferno-class Stream Laser

Damage: Medium

Speed: Medium

Range: Medium

After-effects: None

Characteristics:

The primary weapon on [NSAU Lens Frigate], it has a distinct orange-yellow beam which sometimes resemble a wall of fire.

It damages enemies by heat energy transfer, burning or counteracting opposing energy fields such as Shields.

The stream does not always need to be continuous. Fragmented laser streams has been known to exists, though they’re much weaker than a full stream.

Despite its heat transferring characteristics, it does not sustain a fire after each barrage; making it one of the cleanest but yet devastating weapon known to mankind.

Micron / Micro Laser

Written by Jeremy Lee on . Posted in Energy Weapons

MicroLasers

Full Weapon Name: Micron Laser (light blue) / Micro Laser (light purple)

Damage: Very Light / Light

Speed: Immediate

Range: Short / Medium

After-effects: None

Characteristics:

The NSAU weaponry scientists had long proposed a kind of laser that is clean, efficient and pushes the laser technology to its limits. For some reasons unknown, the NSAU Council of Foresight has vehemently opposed such plans without reason or explanation.

As the Outcast broke free from the NSAU government, they immediately started the research on a focused beam laser technology which is later known as the Micron and Micro Laser beams.

The crux of this weapon family is the immediate contact capability; there’s no more need to aim or lead enemy targets. Thus, this weapon has the potential to be the deadliest anti-fighter weapon of all time.

However, for every advantage, there’ll be a disadvantage. The Micron and Micro Laser beams may be absolute; but their damage is significantly lower than laser bolts or stream lasers.

Laser Bolts

A-Light_Laser_Bolt B-Medium_Laser_Bolt C-Heavy_Laser_Bolt

Full Weapon Name: Light/Medium/Heavy Laser Bolt

Damage: Light / Medium / Heavy

Speed: Fast / Fast / Fast

Range: Short / Medium / Long

After-effects: None

Characteristics:

Laser bolts has long been a standard weaponry of the NSAU government. Used primarily for small arms issued to local police, a standard version was then developed for fighters and starships.

The laser bolt is a clean and efficient technology, requiring no medium as the projectile and no additional materials to help burn itself out; as an energy weapon, it’ll naturally dissipate when it runs out of it.

All laser bolt variants behave in the same manner; upon hitting the target surface, it transfer various types of energy damage to a ship, forcing its material to either dissipate or to heat up till it melts, thus earning its reputation for being deadly.

Shortly before the Outcasts broke away from the NSAU government, the NSAU Council of Foresight finally relented and allowed further research into an artillery-capable variant of the laser bolt.

This was later renamed as the Heavy Laser Bolt and is fitted into the NSAU government’s [Heavy Laser Turrets] for defence against potential enemy starships.

The Outcasts originally wanted to develop a Medium-variant to be fitted onto larger warships; both proposals were swiftly struck down by the Council. This, on top of other factors, drove the Outcasts to a point of rebellion.
